Founded in 2020, the Westside OMTA Ribbon Festival is a delightful performance opportunity for music students. A relaxed and festive atmosphere welcomes student participants on Saturday morning, afternoon, and Sunday afternoon.  

The Ribbon Festival is a non-competitive, non-adjudicated event.  All instrumental and voice students are welcome.  Each small recital will contain a mix of various styles of music and instruments. Students will receive a colorful ribbon for each category in which they participate. 

Please dress nicely.  If music is needed for performance, use original books as no photocopies are allowed unless needed for page-turns.  Friends and family members are encouraged to attend. 

Categories: 

1)      Solo: These may be any genre – Classical, pop, musicals, movie tracks; anything you like to play!

2)      Artwork:  Your creative ideas are encouraged with a musical theme, to be displayed at the Ribbon Festival (This could be a poster, a mobile, statue or other creation)

3)      NEW:  Ensemble:   duets, trios, quartets. This is your opportunity to perform with a musical peer.

Participation fees are $15 each for students of OMTA members and $20 each for guests. Student participation fees are to be paid to the teacher, who will send one check for all their students.

Registration will be handled through Leggiero this year.  Teachers, please notice special Ribbon Festival Registration Instructions to make use of Leggiero for this unique festival.   If you need to create your OMTA Leggiero account, follow this guide.

 The due date is January 13, 2024. After that date your registration and repertoire choices are final.  Special instructions have been emailed to Hillsboro Area OMTA members.  If you have a colleague who is a non-member, they are most welcome and you will need to register on their behalf in Leggiero.

Teachers are required to volunteer.  Please check “Sign up to Monitor” in Leggiero to indicate what time(s) you would like to assist.  Duties may include:  greeter and check-in desk,  recital monitor, putting up decorations, arranging students’ artwork, etc.                

CDC and OHA guidelines for COVID-19 will be followed in accordance with OMTA policy.   Do not attend the Ribbon Festival if you are experiencing any symptoms of illness.

Photo permission forms will be on hand. We like to post photos of students and artwork (without their names) on our website for publicity purposes.
